Guest artist Regenia Ford paints scenes of horses, barns, mountains and wildlife on barn wood. She grew up loving horses since birth. She started drawing horses at a very young age. When she was old enough she tried painting by numbers. She painted and drew throughout her life if time permitted. She tried to enter high school art class but could not and the teacher generously allowed her to sit during the study hall. She credits Carroll Barger of Cocke County High School for teaching her to see colors in everything she looks at and giving her the information she needs to start painting. She began her journey of painting on wood and rustic objects 19 years ago when she painted a house scene on barn wood for her mother and stepfather.
She attended her first craft show as a saleswoman at the “On Cosby Festival” in 2011. Regenia enjoys painting and continues to learn. Its goal is to make someone happy and hopefully bring a sense of nostalgia when viewing its barn, mountain and wildlife scenes. Regenia was born and raised mostly in Hartford Tennessee. His family dates back to the 1700s in this region on his mother’s side and his father’s side of his family. She has been married for 33 years to the love of her life and has three grown children and a grandson she is totally crazy about. In addition to painting and selling her art, Regenia is Director of Social Services at Carson Newman University.
Mitch Smith, guest artist, composer, musician, music teacher and owner of the Round Table School of Music in Morristown, will perform and provide sound for Arts in the Park.
