High school football: Ottawa-Glandorf leads Chippewa at halftime

OTTAWA – Ottawa-Glandorf amassed 277 yards at halftime to take a 27-6 lead in a Division V playoff football game against Chippewa.

The Titans, fifth in their region, turned a 14-6 game into a 21-point advantage in the final minute of the half. Quarterback Landen Jordan led a successful 78-yard run in the final two minutes, completing it with a 31-yard rush for a touchdown when all of his receivers were covered.

Colin White provided the drama after that. In Chippewa’s first play of the next drive, White knocked out Chippewa quarterback Christian Moyer, bringing him back to Chippewa 34.

White caught a pair of passes from Jordan, including a 25-yard game with a nice catch that appeared to be over his head.

Ian Fenbert of Ottawa-Glandorf had a memorable first quarter, recording 99 yards on four carries with two touchdowns.

One of them was a 75-yard sprint down center in the Titans’ first offensive play of the game. Once he crossed the finish line, he left for the races and reached the end zone without being touched.

His second touchdown of the quarter was a sweep to the left from 9 yards, but he had to fight defenders Chippewa and stayed on his feet for the score.

Chippewa moved closer to eight points taking advantage of an Ottawa-Glandorf fumble in the second quarter. Nine plays later, Moyer pushed the ball around for a 3-yard TD. The kick failed, however.

The Chipps played aggressively on record, with two successful fourth down attempts on record. They also attempted a side kick after the score, which the Titans recovered.

The winner will face the winner of the Indian Lake (7-3) -Waynedale (5-5) game on Saturday night. The Titans would host next week’s game if Waynedale and OG both win.
