North Korea demonstrates educational robots in the classroom

North Korea has demonstrated the use of educational robots to help students in subjects like English, math, and music.

A report from the country’s public television channel KRT showed that several different robots were being used in the classroom.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has pushed for education reforms in recent years. These include increases in technological and scientific fields innovation.

A robot that used a female voice could be heard in the TV report saying, “I help teach educational technology that improved children’s intelligence. The three-foot-tall machine moved her arms as she spoke.

Park Kum Hee is a professor at a university in Pyongyang. She told KRT that the development of educational robots encountered some difficulties in the beginning. For example, robots would often shake their heads when asked questions in Korean and foreign languages.

“Upgrading the intelligence of this robot has been difficult for me as a person specializing in psychology,” Park said.

She added that Kim Jong Un’s advice to use artificial intelligence in educational settings had “always guided me. on the right track. “

KRT footage showed young students rehearsing after a robot in subjects related to English, math and music. Two children presented in front of the class reacted to the robot. ” Hello ? Delighted to meet you. Nice to meet you too. What is your name ? Said the students.

The students presented wore masks. North Korea reopened schools in June 2020. But a requirement was established for children to wear masks in class and washing stations were set up.

The secret country has officially reported no cases of the coronavirus. But he ordered several anti-virus measures, including closing borders and restricting movement within the country.
