The objective of the course is to engage young adults in a creative way, in the literary space
Here’s good news for parents looking for options to keep their wards creatively engaged in this phase of social distancing. City writer Nandini Nayar offered a three-week online writing course for children over 10 years old.
The story writing course introduces them to the elements that go into writing a story and guides them on what to consider. “It’s easy for kids stuck at home to get bored and distracted. In addition, there are tensions at home with the news from Corona. This is the time when you can turn your energies towards creativity, ”says Nandini, who also posts storytelling videos on Instagram for toddlers.
When communicating through Gmail Hangouts, Nandini will also give homework at the end of the session. She says it’s fun homework “I want them to have fun even when they start to write.” Writing has helped me get through many serious and stressful situations. I would like to pass this on to the children, so that they can have fun and continue to write so that it brings them comfort. Even if you never want to publish, the simple act of journaling can help communicate your emotions in a pleasant way.
Any child over 10 years old can register for the course. The only requirement is that parents must make an honest assessment of their ward. “Children who love to read and write will benefit from this lesson compared to a child who does not like reading and considers writing homework an unpleasant chore,” she says, adding that some parents have also asked her if they could also register. “There is no upper limit, but I’m referring to young adults, so I’m going to talk to them at their level. Parents can also be busy with most of them working from home, and some stay-at-home moms have children and chores.
Nandini began to write for his son. During her 20-year journey as an author of children’s books, she has written 54 books to date. “My son is in his first year of college and he’s back to reading,” she says.
