Trooper said an SUV crossed the center line of Route 501 at Michters Road around 4 p.m. and struck the van.

Schauer was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man from Myerstown, 29, driving the SUV was taken to hospital with minor injuries, state police said.

Four of the five passengers in the van were also taken to hospitals.
